Mission of the research group

The professional, education and research support of the field of IT security management based on the system point of view of the business organizations.

History

The research group was founded in 2004 in the scope of topics related to IT security management, aiming to elaborate recommendations, research and develop procedures in respect of security issues that are not yet sufficiently clarified in Hungary. The approach to security issues emphasises that the security rules should be observed in the corporate micro-economic system as well as in the security system on the corporate level.

Research topics in the last period included the followings: English-Hungarian, Hungarian-English special dictionary, collection of Hungarian and international rules and standards concerning security, industrial spying, gathering of business information, security frameworks for enterprises, security frameworks for small enterprises, data protection in the area of data security.

The research activity covers the elements of security (confidentiality, soundness and availability where and when it is necessary), data security (minimum threat of confidentiality, soundness and/or availability of personal data, e.g. Act on personal data), security basics (knowledge of sources of hazards, threats, risks and protective measures), the security system encompassing the business, production and information systems of economic organisations, within that asset, plant and IT security subsystems; furthermore the organisation and control of the security of the information system.

In 2010 the research series of “The effects of IT and network vulnerabilities on economy and society” has started, in cooperation with the Theodore Puskas Foundation, the host of the CERT-Hungary. This work runs with the financial support of OTKA National Scientific Research Programs Fund.

The members of the research group founded some educational programs and trainings to disseminate their point of view and the research results:

  • IT Security Expert program
  • In-house data protection and information freedom officer program
  • Data protection and information freedom program
  • Bank security and Data protection and information freedom courses in the postgraduate Banking and finance IT expert program (in cooperation with the Budapest University of Technology and Economics and the Budapest Metropolitan University)
  • Electronic signature in practice
